Center for the Memory of Education in Southern Santa Catarina and the studies on the culture of schools

Abstract

This article discusses the process of implementation of the Center for the Memory of Education in Southern Santa Catarina (CEMESSC), a project carried out by the Research Group on Education History and Memory (GRUPEHME). Aiming to create a culture dedicated to preserving the memory of educational institutions among school communities and to stimulate academic research in the fi eld of history of education, members of GRUPEHME decided to create it in digital media. Initially, the article describes the motivations for the implementation of the center, then it presents some refl ections on the contribution of digital media and research in the fi eld of history of education, subsequently it deals with the center’s implementation process, and fi nally the CEMESSC is discussed as a locus of research.

Giani Rabelo, UNIVERSIDADE DO EXTREMO SUL CATARINENSE - UNESC

Possui graduação em Serviço Social pela Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina (1986), mestrado em Educação pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (1997) e doutorado em Educação pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2008). É professora titular da Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense UNESC (SC). É líder do Grupo de Pesquisa Memória e História da Educação - GRUPEHME (cadastrado no CNPq)e coordenadora da Linha de Pesquisa Educação, Gênero e Religião. Membro do Grupo de Estudo Gênero e Educação. Tem experiência na área de Educação, com ênfase em História da Educação, atuando e pesquisando, principalmente, nos seguintes temas: História, Memória e Educação; Memória Docente; Gênero e Educação; Religião e Educação; História das Instituições Escolares; História da escrita e da leitura; Cultura Escolar.
