Abstract

Although there is a certain consensus about the importance of the subject of philosophy in high school, many times the teacher has difficulties in its planning. The complexity of philosophical knowledge creates some problems when the teacher intends to organize this knowledge in such a way that students can adequately assimilate it. This paper discusses these difficulties, which usually refer to what and how to teach. On the basis of the perspective of a revolutionary education, the teaching of philosophy primarily aims at providing the students with theoretical and practical instruments. By being concerned with the teaching of philosophy we are rendering the best possible service to philosophy, enabling the students to exercise a more conscious and critical understanding of and intervention in their reality.

Keywords: teaching of philosophy, pedagogy, revolutionary education, high school.
