In the early years of Elementary School, in Storytelling, there is a problematic tendency of didacticism, characterized by a merely moralizing pedagogy in the presentation of children’s stories. This article aims to analyze possible strategies for teaching and learning moral values through Storytelling. Three theoretical concepts situated in the field of Moral Education— moral imagination, the character’s moral growth and empathetic consideration—are discussed and methodologically applied to the fable O Corvo e a Raposa, in the work As Aventuras de Pinóquio and in the short story A Galinha Ruiva. The strategies applied to Storytelling allow the child (6-10 years old) to recognize undesirable behaviors and moral virtues as fundamental ethical precepts for life, based on respect, kindness and compassion.
