Maria Montessori: Education, science and Catholicism

This is a text that reflects on the work of Maria Montessori and, above all, the foundations of her work, given that we defend that the reflection and the research work that she carried out cannot be understood, in its potentialities, vulnerabilities and sequels, without identifying, discussing and understanding those foundations, which are based, to a large extent, on a set of ontological, epistemological and conceptual synergies between her Catholic faith and her faith in science. It is these synergies that justify the proposal of the present text, which can be explained by the need to overcome the narratives that look to any educational work in an excessively circumscribed way, at a time when they tend to invisibilize her ideological motivations and epistemological options to value the technical procedures and the efficiency, in order to try to legitimize the indisputability of her work.
