The work-related knowledge of hydrometer readers
Abstract
This article is a synthesis of the results of a research project undertaken for a master’s degree at the Graduate Studies Program in Education of the Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos – UNISINOS. The research project is located in the area of Labor and Education studies and starts from the understanding that the workplace is an educational space. Through a qualitative survey, it investigates the work-related knowledge of 13 public workers who are in charge of the water consumption reading in the capital of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre. Thus, it aims to contribute to the studies about the prescribed and the real knowledge produced at the workplace, examining them on the basis of the public sphere.
