This paper aims to reflect on the United Nations from a pacifist point of view, taking into consideration one of its key goals: the maintenance of international peace and security. It also seeks to reinforce the important role of multilateralism in the contemporary international system, as well as the UN's contribution to this dynamic. Through a qualitative analysis, primary sources and scientific literature are used to explore the pacifist and multilateral nature of the largest international organization ever founded. Despite the challenges posed by the current international framework, in particular due to several Member States’ decisions towards international cooperation, it is concluded that the UN has managed to secure its purposes.
