Abstract: Theoretical research on the thought of Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778); theme: the psychophysical dimension of education. Objective: to demonstrate how the educational process is sustained, consisting of two major pedagogical dimensions, which refer to both physical and psychic training of the human being. Justification: the importance of Rousseau's philosophical-educational ideas for the history of pedagogical ideas. Problem: What theoretical and practical contributions does Jean-Jacques Rousseau's philosophy of education have to offer for the reflection and exercise of pedagogy? Result: Jean-Jacques Rousseau's philosophy and pedagogy presuppose the psychophysical dualism of the human being, which belongs to the cosmovision in which the primacy of nature is unquestionable. The natural order (nature) is the inspiration for the artificial order (society); therefore, one must be educated according to nature to live in society, here is the message of the Genevan philosopher.
