Focus and Scope

Educação Unisinos is a continues publication that followed Estudos Leopoldenses – Série Educação, founded in 1997.

The Journal aims to achieve higher of scientific prodution in the field of education, on national and international level. Publishes unpublished articles, as well as theoretical essays, book reviews, and interviews with national and international researchers. The target public are teachers of different school levels, and researchers in the field of education.

Educação Unisinos is committed to the dissemination of scientific prodution in human sciences, with emphasis in the field of education, especially in the sub-areas: History of Education, Philosophy of Education, Educational Policies, Educational Adminitration and Evaluation, Teacher Education, Curriculum, Pedagogical Practicies, Educational in non-schooling contexts, and Digital Culture.

Peer Review Process

The articles submited to Educação Unisinos are previously evaluated by the Editorial Committee. Those are not in consonance with the editorial criteria of Journal will be returned, and the others will be evaluated accordind to the guidelines of the Journal. The reviewers will have no access to the name and instituticional affiliation of the author, and vice-versa.

Evaluation process

First phase: Preliminary evaluation by the Editorial Committee. The article is evaluated by the Editorial Committee, verifying its conformity to the editoral criteria of the Journal (see requirements for submission). Articles approved in this phase follow for next phase.

Second phase: blind peer review. The article is evaluated by two especialists in the thematic area (members of the Scientific Committee or ad hoc consultants) who belong to different institutions, states and/or countries. Each evaluator writes a review based on the following categories: accept; obligatory corrections; new submission for evaluation; send to another journal; rejected; see comments. When there are divergent opinions, the paper wil be submitted to a third reviewer.

Third phase: Synthesis-evaluantion of the reviews. The Editorial Committee produces a synthesis of the reviews, and sends it to the author(s). The approved articles will then be send to the fifth phase. In the cases where the approval in the second phase was conditioned reformulations, the Editorial Committee wil require author(s) to make the corrections in up to fifteen days.

Fourth phase: final evaluation of the reformulated articles. The Editorial Committee verifies the conformity of the paper to the recommendations, deciding for acceptance or rejection.

Fifth phase: editing. The text goes througth editing, being then sent for online publication.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making cientific knowledge freely available to the public supports a greater global democratization of knowledge.
