The representations of leadership deaf community in verb-visual texts

Abstract

The verb-visual texts are analysed in Bakhtin’s (2010) point of view as an utterance and dialogic relationships. We discuss how the leaders of the deaf community are recognized and represented. What is the role of verbal-visual texts on the messages posted in virtual groups regarding the deaf community leadership? This study is aimed at understanding how this form of communication is presented contemporaneously in these virtual groups on Facebook. This article presents a dialogical analysis on the insertion of images and cartoons as a representation of the deaf community about its political leaders in virtual discussion groups on the social network Facebook – the images and texts posted on the Group - Bilingual School for the Deaf or on the timeline of the participants in the period of 2010 to 2012. Found which acknowledges these texts as depicting a political leadership comprised by “warriors” and “superheroes,” emphasizes the spread of the cultural memory and the exercise of a media citizenship representing the deaf identity, intermediated by verbal texts and by its visual and social representations.

MESTRADO EM EDUCAÇÃO pela Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul - UFMS (2005 - Bolsa CAPES). Especialização em PSICOPEDAGOGIA pela Universidade para o Desenvolvimento da Região do Pantanal - UNIDERP (2005). Graduação em NORMAL SUPERIOR pela Universidade Estadual de Mato Grosso do Sul - UEMS (2003) e graduação em FONOAUDIOLOGIA pela Universidade Católica Dom Bosco - UCDB (1999). Tem experiência na formação e professores de Libras e no desenvolvimento de material didático dessa língua (FENEIS/SP e Letras Libras -UFSC) e na formação de tradutores/intérpretes de Libras em cursos de graduação e especialização. Docência e coordenação pedagógica em escolas bilíngues para surdos. Consultora de projetos em linguística aplicada e na assessoria para implementação de educação bilíngue em secretarias municipais e estaduais de educação. Tem se dedicado a pesquisas no campo da análise de implementação de educação inclusiva e educação bilíngue para surdos, processos de tradução e interpretação de Libras e português e de ensino de Libras. Membro do Grupo de Pesquisa em Interpretação e Tradução de Línguas de Sinais - InterTrads registrado no CNPq, coordenando a linha de pesquisa Tradução e interpretação em contextos Educacionais , tendo como objetivo a investigação da atuação de tradutores e intérpretes de línguas de sinais na educação e de processos tradutórios e interpretativos que envolvem contextos educacionais, desde o espaço da sala de aula até a produção e a difusão de material educacional bilíngue multimídia.
