This article adresses the discursive production of memory, based on spoken performances of life trajectories within a virtual collection. The goal is to consider whether social technologies for popular memory offer means of democratizing the making of history. For this purpose, it suggests treating oral history performances as verbal arts (BAUMAN, 1977) which are able to narrativize everyday life in a creative way (CERTEAU, 2014). The platform Museu da Pessoa (Museum of the Person) is taken as the empirical field of research and framed as a social technology that can work towards a "communicative reconfiguration of knowledge and narration". (MARTÍN-BARBERO, 2014). The study selected, through ethnographic collecting, a set of 15 life stories of people living in a peripheral neighborhood of São Paulo. The analyses aimed to examine how some institutional and technological formal patterns and frameworks (GOFFMAN, 1974; 1981) were used by the storytellers, and how footing was taken as a creative tactic. It was observed the shaping of social frameworks of storytelling within the collection, with potential for memory literacy and producing alternative sources of peripheral subject’s memories.
