Article 33/9 of the Portuguese Constitution states that the law must define the status of the political refugee. Presently, the framework applicable is the Law 27/2008, of June 30 (lastly revised by the Law 26/2014, May 5). This article aims to briefly describe the administrative procedure of attribution and loss of the right to international protection (asylum and subsidiary protection) presently in force in Portugal, which is strongly conformed by European Union Law.
Keywords: right to international protection, asylum, refugees.
