Fundamental rights are constantly evolving, and it is certain that, as society becomes more developed, new rights shall be recognized and protected. The right to protection against disasters constitutes currently a fundamental human right and must be analyzed and protected under the principles governing this category of rights. In this perspective, this article makes an analysis of the relationship between disasters and fundamental rights (highlighting its features and its evolution) and then specifically addresses the implementation of the right of protection against disasters as a fundamental right of the individual. At the end, it makes an analysis of the current stage of this fundamental right and presents the author’s conclusions.
Keywords: disasters, fundamental rights, protection.
