The Principle of Republic as well as Republic are essential categories for understanding the logic of Western juridical ordering. Nevertheless, its concepts are mistaken for other values, like Common Well, Rule of Law or Temporary Elective Mandate, fact that makes it difficult to understand citizenship itself and its exercise. The objective of this article is to appraise and characterise the Republican Principle from the general hypothesis that what is pursued, applying the mentioned principle, is attending to Majority’s Interest, from its definition by democratic instruments. The research about the Principle of Republic is fundamental to law science. The method of research is inductive and the report is deductive.
Key words: Republic, constitutional principles, Principle of Republic, majority’s interest.Downloads
