Abstract

This study assesses the contribution of simulation methodology to the application of the scientific criterion of falsification and identifies the procedures that enable the optimization of results of survey research. To this end, it discusses the findings derived from the application of the structural equation model that estimates the impact of the institutional image of the Central Bank on its reputation through random samples generated by simulation. With an expansion of multivariate normality of the observed variables, an adjustment of excellence for the model was attained, which showed a better fit than the original adjustment, obtained by a non-random sample of 123 comments. Thus, the article concludes that the simulation tool is appropriate for a more robust hypothesis testing, which enables more consistent results and conclusions, without any additional money.

Key words: Simulation; structural equations; Central Bank.
