About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Gæa – Journal of Geoscience is an open access, semestral scientific journal that publishes original scientific papers on the whole geosciences and their applications.

Manuscript submission is spontaneous and free of charge, and the papers selection is based on recommendation by ad-hoc reviewers, using peer-review process.

Peer Review Process

The publication of the article is subjected to the previous approval of the journal's Editorial Board, as well as to peer review made by, at least, two ad hoc reviewers using the double blind review process.

The final acceptance of the article depends on:

  • The recommendation of the reviewers;

  • That the authors carry out the necessary corrections;

  • And final approval by the Editorial Board, which decision will recommend one of the following options:

    1. Accept submission;
    2. Revisions required;
    3. Resubmit for review;
    4. Resubmit elsewhere;
    5. Decline submission;
    6. See comments.

Open Access Policy

Gæa – Journal of Geoscience is a free access journal in accordance with the scientific policy of the UNISINOS Editorial Office. The scientific knowledge must be public and free of charge for readers of all countries.

Gaea (ISSN 1983-3628) is a peer-reviewed, free of charge, open-access journal of geoscience. It is published by the Editorial Office of the UNISINOS (www.unisinos.br) and serves those who develop new and original research about any aspect in Geoscience. Gaea has been published since 2005 and has its history linked with Acta Geologica Leopoldensia (1976-2004), a classical journal that for almost 30 years published relevant articles of the Brazilian Geology and Paleontology. Nowadays, Gaea is open for all geoscientists around the world.
