This paper has as main question the understanding of the role of the new portable technologies of sound and image in the reconfiguration of the current media scenario. Contemporary mediascape, built around “personal audiovisual practices”, appropriates the technical repertoire already consolidated by the industry, promoting the displacement of professional audiovisual procedures and demanding a re-sizing of classical theory (both in image and musical fields) to account for a number of new relationships created in different communication environments.
