This paper is a theoretical reflection about the relationship between the communicational codes (Eco, 2014) and the assigning semiotics (Deleuze and Guattari, 2011a), which are not spread in different strata, including in media technologies. In order to address such an intersection, we present Marshal McLuhan’s (2007) theories, about the environments produced by the media, and Vilém Flusser’s (2008) theories about technical devices, which program our existence and our communicative possibilities. Given this theoretical framework, our reflection is concerned with highlighting how communicative modes are constantly being transformed by different uses and the production of media technologies. To clarify this point, we explain mechanisms for transforming codes discussed in a theoretical dimension.
Keywords: critical semiotics, technology, code, machine.
