Abstract

From the prerogative that the studies of reception and consumption must always consider the communication process as a relation, we’ve prioritized this paper to investigate Twitter’s uses and appropriations and current directions in the #primeiroassedio hashtag. Fomented by a collective, to bring attention to the harassment culture, especially the pedophile culture, through reports of the first harassment suffered by women after the public case involving a 12-year girl participant of a popular Brazilian reality show was disclosed. The case shows how the circulation of comments on the television programming in digital social networks can encourage debate and provide visibility to social issues, such as the harassment culture.

Keywords: Twitter, circulation, harassment culture.
