Studies on framing have gradually gained ground and importance in the field of communication. Recent analyzes, however, have identified two critical points of the investigations: conceptual vagueness and lack of a methodological systematization. Through a literature review, this article focuses on the theoretical problem of the argument, carries out a historical review of the concept, analyzes the different perspectives, brings together the advances of contemporary approaches and proposes a theoretical systematization to research studies on framing.
Keywords: framing, conceptual history, contemporary perspectives.
