Waste management of construction: a practical approach in the city of Passo Fundo-RS, Brazil

Abstract

The shortage of natural resources has led to the search for solutions that bring economic development along with sustainable growth. The environmental problem created by the waste disposal in illegal landfills and highways should be solved aiming to preserve the environment. Stocks have been created to reverse this situation, which is the case of Conama 307/02 resolution establishing guidelines, criteria and procedures for waste management of Construction and creating a chain of responsibilities: generator, transporter, municipalities. This article presents an analysis of the Construction and Demolition Waste (C&D) in the city of Passo Fundo, with a survey which estimates its generation. It also analyses the mapping of the sites of disposition, ending with the preparation of a model of waste management construction, and technical support as a computational tool.
