This article aims to present the scientific assessment methods of Lean Manufacturing (LM) in the context of Brazilian research, identifying its main features and opportunities in developing new methods. From a review in major Brazilian journals of Production Engineering, 8 articles were identified, distributed in six different journals between 2003 and 2008. The results show that: the most used practice of assessment methods of LM are Total Productive Maintenance, Integration of suppliers, Multifunctional Teams, Continuous Improvement Programs and Quick-changeover techniques; the research methodology most used is case study; half methods based on other methods of LM assessment; most methods are developed to assess LM on the shop floor. Finally, we present some implications for future research.
Key words: Lean Manufacturing, assessment method, implementation.Downloads
