Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present different theoretical models that explain the development and participation of children in society/culture. In order to achieve this objective, a bibliographic study was carried out on socialization. It was found that the role of children in socialization depends on the predominant representations of childhood in various different times, which evolved from a child being considered “passive” to the identification of an “active” child, and more recently to the representation of the “co-constructor” child, “structuring” of the society. Children make an Interpretative Reproduction of the adult culture and create, along with their peers, the Childhood Culture. The individual development is then incorporated into the collective productions.

Keywords: interpretative reproduction, socialization, development.
