As a consequence of his philosophy, whose approaches contemplate, mainly, metaphysics, epistemology, ethics and politics, Plato (428/7-348/7 B.C.) conceives his pedagogical ideary with which he intends to make real the education advocated into his project of Ideal State, outlined, by its time, into his work entitled “The Republic”, which, being considered one of the foremost synthesis of his philosophy in general, it can also be left as one of the main synopses of his pedagogy in particular, reason by which excerpts will be extracted from that work, which will permit the construction of a theoretical skeleton that may explicitate the articulation between philosophy and pedagogy into the ambit of the platonic thought. Thus, the exposition of the present work will adopt the following proceeding: first, a summary approach will be done about ontological, gnosiological, moral and social aspects of the Plato´s philosophy; second, convergences of those same aspects will be done to the appointments of educational order, which Plato conceives to each one of the tree classes of citizens who would compose his perfect society. By using an analytical methodological proceeding, whose theoretical settlement is based on authors like Jaeger (2003), Paviani (2008), Scolnicov (2006) and Teixeira (2006), the present work, whose aim is to explicitate the pedagogical intentions of the Plato´s philosophy, appoints as its result the affi rmation that the philosophical system constructed by Plato is not only an abstract and speculative synthesis of the Greek thinking in general, but also a project in particular that, by serving itself from education, it aims at the practical and concrete intervention into the existence of the future citizens of the State intended by him.
