Education, social capital and democracy – looking for common ground
Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between education and democracy in a dialogue between the fields of education and political science. It postulates social capital as a conceptual and procedural mediation in the development of educational practices and more effective political actions, challenging both an education that domesticates and a polyarchic democracy as processes that are not sufficient to promote an emancipatory and full citizenship.
Key words: education, social capital, democracy.Downloads
