The strength of French structuralism for the analysis of cultural products
Abstract
This article delineates historical movement of French structuralism in the fifties and sixties and its cultural focus based on internal structure of the works of art. French structuralism is presented as opposed to British culturalism in the seventies on the reception studies within a more flexible notion of culture. The article identifies a return of the structuralist authors for image analysis made by educators.
