Love and guilt in liberating education
Abstract
This article, starting from the conception of history extracted from the writings of Michel Foucault, discusses the genealogy of the loving relationship proposed by Freire’s Pedagogy and shows how the concept of guilt, so dear to the Christian Western civilization, is a central element of the loving pedagogy of Paulo Freire in the process of the constitution of the subjectivity of the oppressed. In this sense, the text raises the issue of the historical character of the statements made by liberating education and questions the strategies that it uses when proposing an ascetic relationship to construct the subjectivity of the oppressed.
Key words: history, liberating education, love.Downloads
