Abstract

This essay, with historical-educational content and analytical hermeneutic methodology, deepens and revisits thought and socio-educational action about children/childhood in Father António d'Oliveira (1867-1923), using his writings and secondary sources. We have listed the following objectives: to understand the figure, work and thought of Fr. Oliveira; identify Fr. Oliveira as a pedagogue/social educator for his intervention actions with institutionalized minors; to analyze the structure of the Child Protection Law, of which he was a mentor, in its structure and tutelary typology; to analyze the educational intervention program for institutionalized minors. We will contribute, with the design of interpretation, to the protection and reeducation of minors for the History of Social Education. Its social pedagogy presents re-educational processes aimed at overcoming, balancing and preventing minors in marginalization, deviance and social exclusion, in order to promote the protection of children/children

Docente do ensino superior politécnico desde 1987, sendo (co)responsável de cursos de licenciatura e mestrados (educação básica, educação social escolar, educação especial). doutor em Ciências da Educação na área Teoria e H.ª da Educação e H.ª da Educação Social/Pedagogia Social. Investigador efetivo do Centro de investigação CeiEF da Universidade Lusófona de Lisboa. Membro de associações, sociedades e entidades nacionais e internacionais de ciencias da educação. tem publicado vários livros e um inúmeros de artigos em revistas nacionais e internacionais. Áreas de investigação em pedagogia social/H.ª da Educação Social, educação especial, formação de professores, interculturalidade e H.ª das Instituições de educação especial.
