Knowing the relationship between work, health and illness is important to identify the influence of the conditions and characteristics of the professor's work in higher education on the health-disease process. The article aimed to systematize studies on teaching work in higher education and its relationship with health. This is a descriptive study, with a systematic review of the literature published in the last five years, using the search terms professor, professor work, health-disease process and health. The results showed 20 articles, which indicated working conditions capable of influencing health, such as overload of activities, long working hours, interpersonal relationships, competitiveness and duality of work. Mental health problems were highlighted: Burnout Syndrome, stress, anxiety, depression and sleep disorders. It was noticed that the conditions of teaching work assume a close relationship with health, allowing new studies on the subject.
