In this paper, we propose to systematize and analyze the concepts and foundations of the interdisciplinary teacher education programs. The methodology was based on document analysis from pedagogical projects of five programs from federal universities, one from each region of Brazil. Among these findings, we highlight that these programs recognize their emphasis on teacher training; however, they present different conceptions of educational background, which are guided, at least, by three rationalities: technical, practical and critical. We also noticed that these programs seek to overcome old dichotomies, such as “Licenciatura X Bacharelado”. Nevertheless, we did not find an agreement in relation to the grouping of the constitution areas in these programs.
