Abstract

This article aims to reflect the role that the body can assume in the processes of identity construction in quilombolas communities, based on the observation of different educational practices in which such groups are inserted. It was developed from a presentation of the available bibliography on the possible analytical interfaces between body, education and quilombola identity, as well as through the explanation of some field data, which dialogue with this theme, in the context of two quilombolas communities in the state of Rio de Janeiro. It is possible to perceive the protagonism of the body, through certain cultural/corporal practices, or differentiated educational processes sur it, in the construction and affirmation of the quilombolas identities of some communities in the country. However, it is worth mentioning the absence of research that discusses the role of the body in Quilombola School Education, which indicates a research agenda yet to be constituted.
