The neuropsychological evaluation researches the cognitive deficits that are also seen in sensory damages and physical limitations. This article deals with an evaluation of individuals with visual, hearing and psychomotor limitations and argues about the useful instruments. The main objective of this work is to investigate, through a literature review, the instruments in the neuropsychological evaluation of patients with physical and sensory limitations, like hearing loss, low sharpness of vision and movement restrictions in Brazil. The literature review used databases like Scielo, BVS-PSI, PUBMED and printed material (books and thesis) mainly. It was concluded that the inadequate indication in tests of a neuropsychological evaluation can prejudice its results as well as its consequent clinical conducts. There are some convenient tools to this practice like the Inventory of neuropsychological disturbs by Schlindwein-Zanini and Cruz (SZC), Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT), RAVEN progressive matrices, Rey complex figures (complex shapes), Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST), Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC), Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS), according to the examination indications and the patient’s commitment. On the other hand, there is still the need for more Brazilian research about the suitable neuropsychological instruments directed to individuals showing physical and sensorial limitations.
Key words: Neuropsychological assessment, sensory disability, psychological testing.
