The construction of the subject Lourdinha: Textual and discursive analysis of a letter flyer propaganda
Abstract
This work is linked to the research group “Discourse Theory and Practice” of the Masters Program in Linguistics from Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul (UNICSUL), São Paulo, Brazil. This article analyzes a manuscript document of political propaganda, signed by a person who identifies herself as Lourdinha, left in a mailbox of a house in a middle-class neighborhood in São Paulo, whose purpose is to ask for votes for a political candidate. The document was selected as corpus for a textual and discursive analysis whose purpose is to articulate the grammatical phenomena, categories of textual linguistics and discourse analysis to understand to what extent text elements (sequences or text types, lexical selection and organization of ideas) and discursive elements (the construction of the subject, the effects of meaning produced in enunciatee through consideration of utterance scene and ethos of the enunciator) are articulated in the argumentative process to transmit ideologies.
Keywords: textual analysis, discursive analysis, enunciation.
