This article aims at presenting an architectural concept that approaches the issues resulted from the utilization of natural lighting at edifications destined to young people in detention. The methodology adopted is theoretical-empirical, based on the realization of bibliographic review and field visits at the Correctional Center São Francisco de Assis, in the city of Governador Valadares (MG). The theoretical contributions of authors that discuss the adequacy of natural lighting in architectural projects are taken as reference in this study. The quantitative aspects are not part of the proposal in this work. The low-light condition indoor was observed as one of the main architectural problems in the Center. Thus, this work proposes types of openings to increase the natural lighting indoor.
Keywords: Socio-educational centers, natural lighting, youths in deprivation of freedom.
