Colin Campbell states that the hedonism, in other words, the search for pleasure, is what drives not only consumption desires, but also the interpersonal relationships of modern individuals. On the other hand, Zygmunt Bauman claims that, in consumer society, the individuals’ conduct and relationships are influenced by market values inserted into everyday life activities. This paper presents a survey in which Tinder app users are interviewed in order to verify whether the propositions of both theorists apply to the way users perceive the app and relate to the other people who also use it.
Keywords: interpersonal relationships, modern hedonism, consumer society, Tinder.
