Apprehension and analysis of the media event: intersections between communication and public deliberation
Abstract
The aim of this article is to explore the role of the media event in the processes of deliberation concerning public problems. We argue that the event, when constructed in public space and, above all, in the media space of visibility, fosters processes of public deliberation aiming at better understanding or solution of collective problems. Under this point of view, we intend to evaluate how the definition of an event in the media is directly tied with the definition of a problematic field that, in turn, results in the mobilization of a public deliberation in a practical field.Issue
