Abstract

Political economy and the communications studies. This article aims at making a contribution towards systematizing the Communication Political Economy as a theoretical-methodological alternative to allow a better understanding of the changing processes that the contemporary media corporations are going through. Bearing this in mind, the article tries to bring up issues such as the history of the Communication Political Economy and its premises, its discussions/traditions and its cases of study. This way, it is easier to place it among so many theories and possible research hypotheses in the field of communication. The text, which has an introductory approach, is fundamentally aimed at university students and young researches still in the processes of developing their background.
