The "revolt of the banlieus" and the mass media image of the inmigrant in Spain
Abstract
This article reflects on the Spanish media when they informed about the "riots" or "disturbances" that took place in some "French suburbs" in autumn, 2005. What is analyzed, therefore, are not these episodes of collective violence, but the way these episodes were received and remeaned by the Spanish in(formation) mass media, and the contribution that that had in the long process of construction of the excluding figure of the altherness that is the social figure of the "immigrant".Issue
