The media representation of the brazilian fashion field: São Paulo Fashion Week 2008 covering in Folha de S. Paulo
Abstract
This article is an analysis of the Brazilian fashion field, from the journalistic covering by Folha de S. Paulo journal, in the main moment of public celebration of this field, the São Paulo Fashion Week. Starting from the information brought by one of the greatest journals in Brazil, we analyze the relation among stylists, fashion editors and public. Aspects such as the lack of tradition in Brazilian fashion, the incipient trade profissionalization and the representation of the fashion field by the media are emphasized. The information for the consuming is pointed to a public that follows fashion closely to the detriment of the information that leads to the knowledge of the basic elements of the field.Issue
