The organization Arnon de Mello and his patron, trajectory and political interests

This paper aims to investigate the actions and the political interests of entrepreneur and former Sen. Arnon de Mello (1911-1983) in their involvement in business of mass communication - through the media group that bears his name and is led by the newspaper Gazeta de Alagoas. The work aims to contribute to the discussion of the regional media in Brazil, especially in Alagoas, where there is the deep problem of the intervention of the local media - by means of ideological dissemination and information management - in the political arena. The methodology adopted in developing the article includes: search in the literature and in documents - made by search in the collections of newspapers - and interviews, through which it was established that Gazeta was used to promote the politically their owner and / or allies, and has supported the modernization-conservative coup of 1964.Downloads
