Abstract

The sectoral performance achieved by the regions can provide important information about their regional development. With the aid of regional measures of location and specialization, this study sought to examine the dynamics of the micro sector of the North Central Paranaense from 2000 to 2010, comparing these results with some of its socioeconomic indicators. Overall, it was found that there is great disparity between the microregions considered, and the microregions of Londrina and Maringa were those that had bett er rates between the years 2000 and 2010. The micro-Apucarana is in a process of diversification of its productive structure. The others are still dependent on basic sectors, such as agriculture, food and beverage industry, and public administration also has strong participation. The data used for this study were the number of jobs by economic activity (IBGE subsectors).
