The institutional economy; in Search for a rural development theory
Abstract
This essay approaches the matter of rural development from a contemporary focus inside the economic development theory of development in an effort to take this theory more realistic and to try to explain the economical process or the different paths in differentiated historical contexts. Among those approaches are the New Institutional Economy and the New Evolutionary Economy, both of that searching to demonstrate the need of changes in the neoclassic theory of development, as it omits important elements that explain the distinct economic ways or performances of countries. The aim of this work is to demonstrate how the mentioned approaches may help to understand the distinct processes of rural development.
