Regional analysis of northeast COREDE

The objective of this paper is to discuss the role of specialization in the process of regional development. We start by showing the importance of space in the development process, taking into consideration the specialization level of the region, meaning that the main indicator of potentials for domestic development of a region is what really exists in the region. We discuss a new interpretation of the widely used measure of regional specialization - the Location Quotient -that liberates it from the traditional limits of the level of employment in different sectors of the economy.
