The tragic look: Regions, violence and everyday life

Abstract

The object of this text is to address the specifics of what would be a tragic look, or tragicity, and its theoretical possibilities for historiography and studies on regions. To what extent the concepts of tragedy, such as Nietzsche’s concepts of Apollonian and Dionysian and their dynamics, could approach important binomials for the historiography of regions, such as places and spaces, strategies and tactics of Michel de Certeau. We recognize that the tragic is configured as a thought-provoking conceptual alternative to approach narratives or daily life reports and practices of physical or symbolic violence, lawful or unlawful.

Hélio Sochodolak é mestre em História Social pelas Universidades Estaduais de Londrina e Maringá (2001). É doutor (2005) em História Social pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP/Assis) . Leciona na Universidade Estadual do Centro-Oeste (UNICENTRO-PR) desde 2003. Atua como professor permanente no Programa de Pós-Graduação em História (PPGH) da Universidade Estadual do Centro-Oeste (UNICENTRO) e como professor visitante no Programa de Pós-Graduação em História da Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL). No mestrado e no doutorado, desenvolveu pesquisas em história das ideias e da leitura no século XIX tomando como tema o jovem Nietzsche. Atualmente pesquisa em duas linhas de investigação. A linha "Regiões, práticas socioculturais e relações de poder" está vinculada ao PPGH da UNICENTRO. Possui a proposta de compreender diversas formas de conceber historicamente as tensões entre as práticas socioculturais e as relações de poder na constituição de noções de região. A linha "História do cotidiano e da violência no Paraná" se relaciona com as pesquisas em processos criminais no contexto do Sul do Paraná a partir de fins do século XIX. A história da violência entre os imigrantes e seus descendentes possibilita a problematização do discurso paranista na configuração de uma região: o Paraná diferente . Hélio foi presidente da Associação Nacional de História - Seção Paraná, no período de julho de 2008 a outubro de 2010. Foi diretor do Centro de Documentação e Memória (CEDOC) da UNICENTRO-Irati-PR durante o ano de 2012 e coordenou o Programa de Pós-graduação da UNICENTRO-PR, com área de concentração em História e Regiões no biênio 2013-2014.
