Multiple views on military history

Abstract

Recently Military History studies have received considerable contributions from Brazilian researchers with the production of several academic papers. Even the publishing market has shown great interest in the area. As a result, the concept of New Military History arises among historians, in opposition to the first notion. Therefore, this article presents a discussion of the new concept’s legitimacy, an analysis of both concepts’ trajectory, and the benefits for History, as a discipline, approaching them.
