The desicration theory and its consequences in São Paulo by José Nunes Belfort de Mattos and Hermann von Ihering
Abstract
The article tries to recover part of the studies of the meteorologist José NunesBelfort de Mattos and the director of the Museu Paulista, the doctor and ornithologistHermann von Ihering. The analysis of these texts fits the economic, social and environmentalthinking of the last decades of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20thcentury. Analyzing the discourse produced is important for the understanding of therelationship between society and nature in that period and is fundamental for a betterunderstanding of the activities developed, connections established and the meaningsembedded in that relationship present in the coffee economy.Downloads
