Abstract

The circulation of ideas among the peripheral areas is a problem that has not been investigated and not even formulated with enough rigor yet. To understand the African thinking from 1850 to the present it is fundamental to keep in mind the importance of numerous Caribbean intellectuals who, on the one hand, have contributed to constitute this thinking and, on the other, have contributed to enrich it with ideas coming from other regions. The articles discusses the of Walter Rodney, Norman Girvan, Clive Thomas, George Lamming and Arthur Lewis, who were key in the transfer of ideas from the Latin American intellectual space (particularly the socio-economic sciences) to Africa.

Key words: Caribbean intellectuals, circulation of ideas, Latin American thinking, African thinking, peripheral thinking.
