Women activism: feminine trajectories in the development of Partido dos Trabalhadores in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Abstract
Gender and generations studies have had an important role in the historical interpretation of social dynamics, which have been marked by the redefinition of the agents of that dynamics. The debate over gender and generation have increased questions to be discussed in Social History studies, such as: the strategies and daily tactics developed by women in their social group, assuring them a place into this society; the building of social identities in a reconsideration of social class and the role assigned by sexuality in social relations. It is in this context that we put in the study of feminine trajectories in the development of Partido dos Trabalhadores in Rio de Janeiro, since 1980. In this process of bringing up to date the memory, the feminine glance defined our memory itinerary. Each trajectory has its own set of proper themes to the working class and activism women condition. Going across memories and images from the past, we regain a substantive work that attributes to women a specific role in politics.
