From humanitarianism to intolerance. The contradictions of integralistic discourse

Abstract

The theme of this article is the Integralism, a fascist politic movement, arisen in the 1930’s in Brazil. The article analyses the integralist discourse ambiguities, contradictions and incongruities, showing the convergence of hostile and exclude principles: the intolerance and humanitarianism. The integralist doctrine is apprehended by some opposites categories that appear in its discourse, which are: nationalism x internationalism, people auto determination x cultural/racial imperialism, naturism x cosmopolitism, nationalization/ integration/homogenization/ x ethnics and racial identities preservation.
