The Insertion of the Pentecostals in Politics: A threat to democracy?
Abstract
In this article we present a survey of major historical events linked to some of Pentecostalism names, and we establish their relationship with Brazilian politics. We believe that the phenomenon of the religion insertion in the political sphere raises theoretical aspects of great importance, among them: the extent to which the relationship between Pentecostals and politics can be in a threat to democracy? To answer that question, we draw up a reconstruction of the historic period under study from the specialized literature, and we also analyze the Projects Management Act from 1991 until 2007 in Rio Grande do Sul, using the techniques of quantitative and qualitative research.
Key words: pentecostalism, politics institutions, democracy.Downloads
