Forms and problems of Brazilian historiography
Abstract
In tune with research trends in Europe and the US, in Brazil too there is a broadening and diversification of the studies and reflections on the history and characteristics of the historians’ production. In both contexts the theoretical reflections are ahead of the scientific practice. In this sense, the article analyzes two comprehensive studies on the history of Brazilian historical studies, with the goal of identifying the parameters and guidelines on the basis of which the investigations in the field of historiography are concretely conducted. It also reflects on procedures in order to improve and adjust them to the specificities of the major sources of historical studies, viz. the works of the historians themselves.
Key words: Brazilian historiography, methodology, theory of history.Downloads
